Grooms, Wenches and a Justicar

Rhynelands – Overseeing the Royal Rhyne Estate in the County of Penrith, a grand meeting to forge the future of the kingdom was underway to decide the fate of their centerpieces. King Adam Rhyne’s hopeful groom Duke Morbis Alabast, and wife Queen Jordyn Rhyne, accompanied by Consort Duchess Rheika Hart, bickered over the color palate of the wondrous occasion. Also, attending was Duchess Aleerayn Aritaur who refused assisting in all other matters, instead preferring to solely refine the wine selection. Amidst the confusion of which suit Duke Morbis should wear – the otter inspired single breasted or silhouetted which graces the figure. A peculiar visage appeared in the lavish room, Chief Justicar Anders Kastanjj burst into the room unsettling the fair nobles dispute. Rumbling with anger after receiving the news, and Duke Morbis unable to calm King Adam even after a relaxing, beard waxing and twirl – a war path seemed to be drawn.

Withdrawing from the planning, King Adam Rhyne and Chief Justicar Anders Kastanjj discussed improving security measures. After hours of grueling, tedious security discussions. King Adam boorishly agreed to Chief Justicar Anders security terms, if only to cease the impromptu meeting. Policies to implement identification papers, training guards to spot disguises, scribing all royal encounters, and installing ‘advisors’ in all duchies hierarchies received royal decree. With these security measures developed the Chief Justicar informed that the contracts required would be completed in the next two following generations.

With the impromptu security crisis presently averted, King Adam Rhyne returned to the disgruntled nobles. The current discussion was Duke Theophrastus Bombastus’ (nee Barnebas Bombastus). Consort Duchess Rheika Hart vehemently declared Duke Bombastus as a ‘poor leader’ and ‘a scar on the prestige of the kingdom’, that he had even ‘performed treason’. Queen Jordyn Rhyne agreeingly nodded, as Duke Morbis Alabast was taken aback by these unfounded vulgar statements. Chief Justicar Anders overhearing the accusations demanded evidence to protect the prestige of his royalty [King Adam Rhyne]. These allegations demanded a Round Table meeting which led to Duke Theophrastus Bombastus narrowly freeing himself of the charges, and protesting favoritism against King Adam Rhyne towards Consort Duchess Rheika Hart.

With, the fate of the Freehold Duchy of Zylphania in the Kingdom of Vornair precariously edging towards disaster. So begins the consolidation of power in unions, in name, in accusations and in title.

Leading the Crown

Aechena – Helgrim Enterprises has landed a stunningly, brilliant deal with the Draugr Fleet. Through this lucrative deal, Helgrim is now contracted to construct one-thousands ships for the Draugr Fleet stationed in the Duchy of the High Seas. The contract signed by King Adam Rhyne details that upon completion Helgrim will receive amount owing, plus bonuses and crafters’ will be allowed a ‘night of consultations’ with the King’s Consort Count Edwin Salle. In the contract Consort Duchess and Chief Executive Officer of Helgrim Enterprises Rheika Hart received a personal bonus, twenty coastal parcels in the County of Penrith and the removal of Lord Commander Alaric Stonehammer, true Duke of Aechena.

Many of the other guilds who auctioned their tenders were stunned at the gracious terms; except for King Rhyne’s impassioned offering of Count Edwin Salle. Who is being renowned for his community charities such as – No Clothes, No Shoes, Full Service a brothel in the County of Bhailedar, and a bestselling book called Taking a Tip: How to Earn the Trust of a King. The favorable terms of the contract has raised eyebrows, ca using questions to stir throughout the Kingdom of Vornair’s guilds and schools. With the leaders of Mercava, The Forge Bound Association and Esotericum demanding an inquiry. Chief Nathecat said that, “These [contractual] terms are favoritism through-and-through by the High Council and King Adam Rhyne. We [Mercava] have proven our quality and skills, and are still being limited by this corrupted rating scheme.”

This initially benign system, was to better facilitate kingdom-level contracts. The Guild Reputation System was led by the High Council, specifically the Maester of Resources Lexidus Havenspire. However, utilizing the relationship and leadership shared by the Duchy of Aechena and Helgrim, Helgrim’s contractual reputation soared by receiving contracts, and subsequent ratings from Aristocracy and Nobility within Helgrim. A contract review from Count Viktor Galliand stated, “Great Job. Ordered nothing, but showed up almost on time.” Another, Duke Alaric Stonehammer listed, “Excellent! I received two-hundred pairs of socks… I ordered two-hundred swords…” Both of which, along with many more gave full recommendations to future contractors. Using her influence over the High Council, and proximity to King Adam Rhyne, Consort Duchess Rheika Hart and Helgrim Enterprises thrive under this reprehensible system even after the cost of bribes, and political offerings.

To the disillusionment of guilds and schools across the Kingdom of Vornair these reputation systems remain. Helgrim Enterprises seems to be the embodiment of favoritism, and monopolization in the Kingdom of Vornair. Benefiting from the near familial ties to the King and Queen, these systems and policies of bias and limited oversight will surely continue. This influence has also festered in the High Council as well, with Duchess Rheika Hart spreading whispers of treasonous deceit against the Dukes and Duchesses of Vornair.

The whispers of a ones peasant trader have amassed to falter the foundation of a kingdom.

Forging an Empire: PAX Council

Vornair – It is with pleasure we divulge breaking news from the Kingdom of Vornair for our readers. It happened a week to the day at the beautiful Sportello tavern. The bachelor party of King Adam Rhyne and Duke Morbis Alabast. The two were lovingly surrounded by merriment and drink, alongside the High Council, Dukes and Duchess. Also, attending was King Rhyne’s long time friend, the King of Fortuna. Absent from the event was the Duke of Zylphania and Fehu who begrudgingly accepted the administrative duties of the kingdom. Truly, Duke Bombastus did all of the work, as Duke Cardan slinked away to probe the local brothels.

A spectacular course meal lined the tables, Aesir Barbazu Heimdallr stated that “the potato gnocchi and sorbet were lovely,” at least I think so, the tavern maid halted serving Count Heimdallr soon after. With Duke Bälen present, drinking turned into playful shenanigans as the bear pack came out. While a more dubious corner led by Chief Justicar Anders Kastanjj, who arrived late, lounged, tempting to find spies and werewolves; I don’t think he did too well.

After hours the party swiftly ended and the pursuit of an empire had begun. Reportedly, a representative of the Kingdom of Alésia, Count Edwin Salle was also present. However, the representative didn’t have enough influence to enter the forum. With Duke Morbis resting on King Rhyne’s lap, elegantly twirling his beard. Both Kings took out their rosters and maps to focus on consolidating the Kingdom of Fortuna into the Empire of Vornair. This meeting allowed us to discover the true reason for the Kingdom of Fortuna’s negligible efforts in recruitment, because it was never meant to exist alone.

For on this day a wedding did occur, the merging of Fortuna and Vornair and the creation of Elyria’s first empire.

Coin’s Guide to Dungeons: Castillion

Castillion, Vornair – G’day readers Kyle Coin world traveler, and prison connoisseur here. I write after adventuring into the heart of Vornair, into the capital of Zylphania. I have landed in prison elsewhere for nefarious and misgiving situations: impersonating a priest in Thearyn and disguising as a tax collector in Fortuna come to mind; which is quite difficult when there is only one citizen. Today, it was for kicking the soapbox of Aerus Morningray, who was fanatically rambling about securing titles and needing donations from Zylphania patrons to help create a “New Dawn”.

Guards with uniformed cloaks were posted outside, the cloaks evergreen color turning black in the darkness. Although the cell could hold five it was spacious, with room to fit an easel. The amenities were humble with actual pillows and used bedding. With such hospitality, even Duke Bombastus visited, while there he painted as he declared ‘happy little ‘staches’ on seemingly thousands of self-portraits. I enjoyed the company for a time, I think Duke Bombastus was more grateful for it, as he could hide from responsibilities. The food was warm and considerate coming straight from the ducal estate kitchen. Activities were few; however, the Solarium was right above the cellroom so the conversations were fantastic. Near check-out, I even received a survey form asking how the stay was to help create informed, dispassionate policies.

Overall I would rate the Dungeon of Castillion at 3 out of 4 stars. Would visit again!

3-Stars

Verdict: Above Average.

New Vornair Sneak Peek

Vornair – Our friends in the kingdom of Vornair never fail to put out the very best in espirt de corps. While some would almost consider the amalgamation a horrific cult of personality seeking only to consume others in a relentless march of self glorification, we at the Examiner are above such terrible generalizations. Always looking new ways to show off the developments and acheivements here is a sneak peek at the newest    Active-Vair!

Tragedy at Sea

Pictures_of_English_History_Plate_XVIII_-_Wreck_of_the_'White_Ship'

Zylphania – In the early morning mists ships collided in the cold seas off the Vornair coastline. It is uncertain what the cause was at this time as an investigation is still pending. the S.S. Dawn was all but lost with almost no known survivors returning to port in the nearby Duchy of Zylphania. The S.S. Dusk also took severe damage losing a couple crew and loss of hull integrity. Damage reporting is still underway and the Duchy has full support of specialists in both the Rhynelands and Aechena Duchies through this tragedy, some of whom have strong historic ties to the Zylphanian homeland, but many speculate the reality of whether the Dusk or Dawn will ever truly be seaworthy again.

Forging an Empire: Free Kingdom

corruption-800x500_c

Free Kingdom – For the Free Kingdom, voting, bidding, and the selling of tokens and souls has been with us for a couple of weeks now. Candidates with all types of alluring campaigns have emerged to win a title. These candidates aren’t without their own Kypiq furred-baggage and allegiances. With some being previous members or associates of a current kingdom or organization. Let’s tabulate a prediction, and bet, vote on the future.

Phyllain, the leader of Xeilias and previous Count of Kairos with favor from Vornair, and Violet Winterborne. A power couple almost as equal in power and dress to King Evelake and Duke Morbis “Chelesa” Alabast. Violet is the stronger forward face of this couple with her own controversies as other candidates have accused her of stealing ideas and accused her surrogates of using coercive measures to gather support. Phyllian says he wants to win but seems comfortable at the prospect of ruling behind the curtain of power through leverage and intimidation. In the end whether this couple, with Phyllain’s almost Bismarckian attitude and Violet’s subtle Machiavellianism, will last to create a stable Free Kingdom is yet to be seen. Their chances of winning currently are good though. (1 in 2)

Seele, the illustrious pontificate of the election would win, if it was simply based off of word count and context. As a non-connected candidate with lengthy ideals, Emperor Seele may be an underestimated choice and have the force to take it all but has a clear set of goals and policies he wants to achieve. This rings of someone who has been in positions of governance before. The question is: Is Seele’s leadership equal to his statesmanship? Thus far he has been unable to motive high energy from his base and seems to play on the defensive. (1 in 3)

The wearer of the ‘bombastic’ mustache, NiHZ, has garnered support from Vornair and Kairos. Overall she is a clever builder of coalitions but seems to lack the taste or ability of subterfuge compared to some of her competition. She would likely make quite the successful leader in the end but may become trapped in a labyrinth of shifting favors, deals, and alliances and this duplicity in support will be underappreciated, weakening her overall chances of success. (1 in 4)

His Holy Righteousness Personified, Leader of Horses and Scythes, Maulvorn VII will have to continue propagating foul play in token counting and continue prophesying a false sense of grandiose importance to the community to ensure the kingly crown resides with him. He is not a frontrunner in the contest but his aggressive rhetoric and propaganda keeps him very relevant in the race. The limits of his platform may, in the end, lose him the crown, but he will be a driving force in his kingdom so long as his momentum grows. (1 in 6)

The unabashed playboy of the election, Jon Warren, has placed his winning on the self-serving greed of others, rather than garnering support of a community. This tenuous support may last, but it may have to be continually bolstered by lavish parties paid for by future taxes. Likable enough nonetheless and with a decent, safe platform Jon Warren is the least controversial, and the most electable candidate from a stance of kingdom stability as there are no excessively strong feelings for or against his leadership. The primary controversy overall is Jon’s entrepreneurial ways of approaching problems. His competition does not like that he refuses to play by their rules. (1 in 7)

Lurking in the shadows it is unfair to despair against the Concierge, with support from Bordweall and King Dleatherus, this will be a test of numbers, camaraderie, and focused effort for the Concierge and Bordweall. The Concierge runs his platform by calling it deviate but simply means that the ends of the kingdom justify the use of any means. With the significant external pressures on the Free Kingdom and the internal lack of cohesion as a community with various strong, divergent personalities in leadership positions this approach may be the most dangerously forsightful. Unfortunately the current interpretation attracts destabilizing or fringe elements while driving more cautious elements to safer candidates. (1 in 10)

A somewhat late arrival in the race is Cheshire, a self-styled pauper queen. She inherently doubles down on the aggressive style of Maulvorn and does not come off as completely stable. Her platform is quite laissez-faire by saying she will not expect taxes or duties from her subjects. Given her campaign style as a declaration of war against the political machinery afoot. It is not certain whether she wants to win or simply be an interruption in the process. If it is the latter then we will likely be hearing more from Cheshire in the future. (1 in 50)

These candidates are merely members in an ongoing dance. Let us peer behind the curtain of politics and acknowledge its central players and workings. Some of these candidates with their ideals, thoughts and history have been with our community for a time. With this time and history unsettling, empirical allegiances and relations of opportunity have emerged. Let us attempt to discover who the true victors of this election shall be.

The despotic micromanagement of Vornair is a travesty against independent thought and, seen by some, akin to a plague of locusts. Their sheer potential population, resources and tax base is only held at bay by an inefficient and bumbling bureaucratic process that does little to serve those outside the king’s elite inner circle. With this Vornair does however possess the greatest chance of further objectifying Luna. By bribery, demands, or the puppeteering of Phyllain, Violent or NiHZ, the Free Kingdom can be brought to heel as a client state of a greater Vornic Empire. Sadly Duke Morbis will likely feel left out as King Evelake reaches in and controls another’s wants in pursuit of ultimate authority. (1 in 2)

Quiet composure, financially and educationally focused, Kairos is the meek forgotten brother of Vornair. This weakness may be exchanged for a subtle strength however, for lavish ties to Xeilias, Phyllain and Violet would increase the political power of Kairos without increasing the perception of growing threat to the status quo of world politics. These ties with previous members could spur on a golden age of Kairos influence, through a fetid alliance or pact. However, as with all siblings, most are unable to share their toys. The potential King Phyllain and Queen Violet may cease to exist from a simple tug-of-war (1 in 3).

Opposing Vornair in all, but sheer population, resources, tax base, community, tweets and likes, Bordweall limps into the fray. A defensive republic of duchies with King Dleatherus, as their mask wielding figurehead. Defensive in nature, creating a client of the Free Kingdom gives the Bordweall a means of creating a political partner in more provocative actions to further their goals. The Concierge has the mindset and moral compass to actively protect Bordweall’s interests abroad so long as they are in the Free Kingdom’s best interest as well. The partnership unfortunately has demanded far less respect than garnered, with even less of a likelihood for victory. However, it is important for Dleatherus’ errand runner to remain in the campaign, or risk opening doors for Vornair, Kairos or virtues forbid Maulvorn (1 in 6).

With the rest of the candidates being unaffiliated from major donors, propaganda or acceptance speeches. These are the few, Seele, Jon Warren and Maulvorn, which may, may be able to lead the Free Kingdom to independence instead of subjugation.

With these impeding victories or defeats current kingdoms will solidify alliances, and empires. The first wars of Luna will be fought over the allegiances of the Free Kingdom, a proxy war which will garner the glare and support of all Luna’s kingdoms. Demanding tribute for past support, and demanding help for future gains, the current kingdoms are selecting the King and Queen of our Free Kingdom. When purchasing tokens, rather than asking: ‘Who should I vote for?’ If it all. Maybe ask yourself: ‘Which current kingdom, if any, do I want to be aligned and beholden to?’ The great dance is upon us, make sure to choose your dance partner and bedfellow wisely.
